by dint of it's central location just off of MMW, the plentitude of things to lock your bike to where it's clearly visible, and their excellent baking, Peter's Yard is perfect for cyclists
I get the impression there is a shortage of cycle parking space there, this was on a cold day in January, what's it going to be like when it gets warmer and busier?
you've got to be creative and use the architectural hedge at the back :) Mainly though I was meaning that there's "relatively" a lot of "things" (not actual racks) to use - compared to locations where your only option is a single lamp post or down pipe.
You are right it would never get to this level...
unfortunately! that would be definite progress for Edinburgh
You did well here!
But, hey we can dream...
And now there are new signs on the railings by the flats "No Bicycles Please", which is not a positive move. There is plenty of space to put in cycle parking between the café and the super market. I suspect the problem is the Quarter Mile developers are stuck somewhere in the 1980's and haven't realised that cycling is now cool and common among the Young Urban Professional they are trying to attract...
Yeah saw that on Friday morning when we stopped in for coffee. of course, they said "please", so one presumes that it's just polite advice and not enforceable? I thought about getting some signs made up for bike racks to say "no designer ornamental shrubbery, please"
